On 27 August, all gymnasium pupils of the HWC gathered in the theatre for the opening of the new gymnasium year.
During the meeting, people looked ahead to the classical annual programme, including the excursions that are in the pipeline. Ms Van de Idsert showed that you come across classical languages even during a holiday in Scandinavia. Mr Truijens spoke about the power of language: how you choose words and how the way you deliver a message can make all the difference, from exams to social media.
There was also an interactive mini-lecture by Ms Rose about the year zero. It was great to see that many new pupils signed up immediately for the Comitia, the grammar school sounding board group.
