In our education, we strive for high quality, combined with attention to you as an individual. The atmosphere in the lessons is good and with the 80-minute lessons there is enough time to practice and ask your teacher questions if you don't understand. Furthermore, we prepare you for a world that is bigger than the classroom.

Bilingual education
At the HWC, we offer courses for VMBO-T, HAVO,
Atheneum and Gymnasium. The school offers these
courses in both Dutch and bilingual
education (TTO). TTO means that you some
subjects in English and others in Dutch.
But TTO is more than just learning to speak your languages well.
The education programme is also aimed
on global citizenship and personal development,
which we have also developed separate learning paths for.

Arts & Culture
Education in art and culture stimulates an open, curious and
investigative attitude. Thinking about and allowing oneself
wondering through art also gives students insight into who they themselves
to be. Art and culture are individualistic, but also social. It's about
Over-empathy, the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes. Aside from
the space to be yourself stands the responsibility as
group to deal well with differences. Art education provides
understanding of other cultures and art forms, develops creativity
thinking and delivers intensive social interaction. Pupils learn
to look at the world around them with an open mind.
Education in art and culture thus makes an important contribution to
core values of encounter and connection. That makes it a
important pillar of the school.
As of the 2022-2023 academic year, the HWC has the certification

What makes learning so fun at HWC?
Our pupils speaking:

Carolina from 2nd [year/grade]
I've chosen the HWC because I can follow bilingual education here. It's not a school where you just have to learn from books, but a school where you learn through practical experience.
I don't really have a favourite subject. I usually find religion and history interesting; depending on the topics we are covering.
Boaz from 1d
My sister already went to this school, and my church is also at the school. This made it somewhat familiar territory for me, and HWC was a logical choice. The school feels cosy and nice. I also like the 80-minute timetable; this way, you have to carry fewer books because you have fewer lessons in a day. You have to walk back and forth less and can really delve into the subjects.
Ian and Eliza from 3a
We are finding the grammar school increasingly challenging.
The HWC
International Crossover Class
The International Crossover Class (ICC) provides high-quality
international education tailored for children aged 10, 11, or 12 who are
deciding between Dutch or international education, offering a
unique crossover year to support their decision.

In the Dutch educational system, secondary schooling begins a year later than in international systems. For students who
have completed international primary education and wish to enter Dutch secondary education, the ICC offers a valuable
bridging year. During this year, students complete Middle Years 1 (MY1) of the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC).
We complement this with Pearson’s International Maths and English programmes, and all lessons in Maths, English, and IMYC
are delivered in English.

INFORMATION IN ENGLISH
Hermann Wesselink College is a Dutch school with a strong
international orientation. We offer bilingual education at the three
vmbo-t, havo, and vwo.
Bilingual education means that the curriculum is taught in two
languages: some subjects are taught in English, whilst others are in
Nederlands. Daarom zijn beide talen belangrijk.
It is important to realise that Hermann Wesselink College is not an
international school. The bilingual nature of the curriculum, in

means that it is not automatically possible for students from
international backgrounds to start at Hermann Wesselink College.
