Gym to the opera

More than 30 students from the senior years of grammar school took up the offer to go to the opera. Semele by George Frideric Handel. This three-hour production by the National Opera and Ballet told the story of Semele, whose love for the chief god Jupiter was wrecked by the intervention of Jupiter's cunning wife Juno. The students followed the story from Greek mythology attentively as it was told with music, singing, and dance. Amidst all the tragic events, there was thankfully also room for humour.

A large number of the pupils also took part in a singing and acting workshop in the afternoon, which made the performance an unforgettable experience for them. A tour backstage and an interview with two cellists from the orchestra completed our day.
