Key procedure for lateral entry
First registration
The basic principle is that every pupil who lives in Amstelland will also be allocated a place at a school in the region. To facilitate this, you need to register in two places:
- As a parent, you must register your child for the waiting list of schools in the region before 1 May using the central registration form.. Please indicate a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd preference here. Fill in all three preferences. For the HWC, registration for vmbo-t 2 (mavo 2) is not possible.
- Hereafter, you should also register your child with your first preference school before 1 May.
Once both forms have been completed, the school of first preference will request information from your child's current school. Once this information has been received, your child will be placed on the waiting list for in-year admissions in the Amstelland region. The school of first preference will contact you to confirm the application.
Applications will be processed in order of receipt.
The procedure is closed for this school year.
Placement
At the end of the school year, schools in Amstelland discuss the applications from the central application form. Parents then receive information about possible placement, followed by any introductory meetings.
Finally, we would like to point out that it is, of course, of great importance that you maintain contact with your child's current school throughout the remainder of the school year regarding your child's developments and the proper preparation for any potential transition.
The HWC
Procedure for lateral entry into Havo 4 from Vmbo-t 4
For admission to HAVO 4 with a VMBO-T diploma from the Amstelland region, a different procedure applies. Students in the Amstelland region who attend a school that does not offer HAVO will be given the first opportunity to register. Students who can attend HAVO at their own school will only be considered if we have sufficient places. To register your son/daughter for HAVO 4, please contact the careers advisor at your current school; they can provide you with further information about the procedure. For all other lateral admissions to HAVO 4, the core lateral admission procedure as described above applies.
