Our TTO students from VMBO-t Year 3 were invited to an iftar meal as part of a ‘regional’ exchange with third-year HAVO/VWO TTO students from the Hervormd Lyceum West. The aim was to discover mutual differences and similarities through interaction.
We received a warm welcome and the students quickly made enjoyable contact. A few girls enthusiastically gave us a tour of the school, and of course, the language of communication was English. Afterwards, it was time for presentations, in which students from both schools told each other more about themselves and their school. Then they did a ‘Find someone who...’ activity and reported back to the group. Next, we waited for sunset, which was a real countdown for those observing the fast. Once it arrived, a delicious three-course iftar meal was served.
There was a lot of chatting and laughing, and a group chat was quickly set up. Our pupils look forward to showing the HLW students the HWC soon and getting to know each other even better!
