During the activity week, Year 9 VWO students worked interactively on the theme of global citizenship. The concepts identity, understanding each other en change were central to that.
They began by asking how the Netherlands and Dutch identity have been shaped. The students then delved into their own identities and the influence that different groups in society, including migrant groups, have had on them.
The working methods were very diverse; pupils literally moved around the classroom to discuss statements, watched fragments from documentaries, and visited a museum to discover how identity is visible in their own environment.
We concluded with the question: In my ideal world, how would we interact with each other?
