International education in Amstelveen

Onderwijsgroep Amstelland and the Cedergroep signed a cooperation agreement on 1 May 2026 for the realisation of internationally oriented secondary education (IGVO) within Amstelland International School (AIS), in collaboration with the Hermann Wesselink College (HWC).

This collaboration creates a continuous learning pathway for AIS pupils. After completing their International General Education in Primary (IGBO) education, they can continue their studies in International General Education in Secondary (IGVO). Starting from the 2026–2027 academic year, the first group of pupils will begin the internationally recognised International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC 1) at HWC.

The collaboration aims to provide accessible education that meets the needs of both local and internationally-oriented pupils and families in the region. This step marks a further development of the international education provision in Amstelveen.
