In recent months, the students of year 1s, bilingual VMBO-T, have been working hard on their TTO project. The English-speaking world over countries where English is the official language. Every Thursday afternoon, they practiced applying the English language through a series of assignments, involving research, collaboration, and learning to present information. The final product was a homemade poster, on which each group mapped out a country from the English-speaking world and could convey a wide range of information about it. They proudly presented this to classmates, parents, and teachers.
“It was good that we had to explain everything in English, because it really made you use it,” one student shared.
“This project really shows how quickly students grow when they learn a language by doing,” said one of the teachers.
