Philosophy and The Big Mo Show

On 11 May, pupils from vmbo-t Year 3, havo Year 3, and vwo Year 3 at the HWC watched the improvised performance ‘The Big Mo Show’, as part of their philosophy class. This interactive performance focused on media literacy and social situations. Three actors performed various recognisable scenes, which were based on ideas and input from the pupils in the audience. The pupils were actively involved in the choices the characters made, some were even invited onto the stage, and all of them saw the consequences of those choices reflected back.

The situations included exclusion, peer pressure, and dealing with social media. The section about sharing personal photos online, in particular, made a strong impression, prompting thought and eliciting remarkable reactions. What initially saw the pupils respond with giggles and a degree of hesitation soon turned into genuine engagement.
