Exploring the Wonders of the Human Body
On Tuesday, 11th February, our class had the opportunity to visit the Body Worlds Museum in Amsterdam—a fascinating introduction to our upcoming topic on Balance. Accompanied by our teachers, Mr. Frick and Ms. Stone, along with two fantastic parent helpers, Deepti and Ben, we set off eager to explore the incredible systems that keep our bodies running.
This visit served as an Entry Point activity to our new topic, ‘Balance’, encouraging us to think about what it really means to keep our bodies in balance. The museum gave us a first look at how everything in the body is connected and how small changes can have a big impact on our overall well-being.
Each floor of the museum highlighted different aspects of the human body, from muscles and movement to the heart, brain, digestion, and emotions. One of the key takeaways was how important it is to maintain a balance between taking risks and making sensible choices. We saw real-life examples of how our lifestyle choices impact our health and how neglecting key elements can throw the body off balance.
Throughout the visit, students were fully engaged, asking questions, and making connections between what they saw and their own experiences. While some were fascinated by the detailed displays of the human body, others were amazed by how much control we have over our health simply by making thoughtful, balanced choices in our daily lives.
Not everyone knew what to expect, and a couple of students were initially a bit apprehensive. However, by the end of the visit, everyone had discovered something that truly fascinated them—whether it was the complexity of the circulatory system, the way our muscles work together, or the impact of emotions on physical health.
The visit was a fantastic way to spark curiosity and excitement for our upcoming Balance topic—and who knows, maybe one day, one of our students will become a great scientist, doctor, or researcher, unlocking even more secrets of the human body!
